Washington Delegation Trip – Young Perspectives for Strong Transatlantic Relations
Delegation trip to Washington, D.C., with the “Young Forum for Foreign Policy”
Supporting young people who wish to take responsibility for the future is one of the central goals of the Klaus Höchstetter Foundation. We are therefore pleased to have supported the Munich “Young Forum for Foreign Policy” delegation trip to Washington, D.C., in September 2026.
Eleven dedicated young people, including two of the Foundation’s scholarship holders, were given the opportunity to experience international politics up close. In discussions with representatives from politics, diplomacy, science, and leading think tanks, they gained valuable insights into the current challenges facing transatlantic relations.
The focus was on questions of international cooperation, the European security architecture, and the future of the German-American partnership. The meetings opened up new perspectives and enabled a critical examination of current political developments.
One of the Foundation’s scholarship holders reports:
“The trip showed me how important personal encounters are for mutual understanding. I was particularly impressed by how openly and nuanced the relations between Europe and the USA were discussed. Many of these impressions will have a lasting impact on my political and civic engagement.”
Especially in times of international challenges, such exchange programs are of particular value. They promote dialogue across borders, strengthen the understanding of democratic processes, and encourage young people to take on responsibility.
We thank the “Young Forum for Foreign Policy” for its long-standing commitment and wish all participants continued success on their personal and professional paths.
